Plastic Injection Mold Maintenance Precautions

The maintenance procedure required for each injection molding position depends on the different mold cycle cycles.

Here are some general principles that allow each mold user to use the mold components of the hot runner, heater, guide post and thimble to prevent the occurrence of unexpected conditions.

1. Check whether there is an alarming rust or moisture in the air hole

If rust or moisture is found near the hot runner vent, it means that internal condensation or possible water rupture. Moisture can cause a fatal short circuit to the heater. If the machine is not running all year round, but in the evening or the weekend will be shut down, then the probability of occurrence of this condensation will increase.

2. Remember to remind the operator not to "clean up" the hot mouth at the gate

If the operator happens to see a small piece of stainless steel at the mouth of the mold, it may be a point nozzle. "Cleansing" something that looks like a hindrance often destroys hot mouth. In order not to damage the hot mouth, please confirm the type of hot runner system before taking action to ensure that all operators are well trained and able to identify all the different types of mouths that they are exposed to.

3. Slide the buckle

This work should be done once a week for machines that run endlessly throughout the year.

4. Check the resistance of the heater

It should have been measured at the beginning of the use of the heater, it has been measured its resistance value, is now again measured and compared. If the resistance value has a float of up to 10%, it is necessary to consider replacing the heater to ensure that it will not be in the production process of the critical moment out of the situation. If the initial resistance value has never been measured, it is now measured once and the resulting value is used as reference data for future inspection of the heater.

5. Check for signs of wear between the guide posts and the guide sleeve

To find out whether there are scratches or scratches and other traces, this wear is due to lack of lubrication relationship. If the traces are just emerging, then you can also through the guide column and guide sleeve more lubrication to extend its life. If the wear is very serious, it is time to replace the new parts. Otherwise, the cavity and the core part may not be able to fit well, resulting in a thin wall of parts.

6. Check the water flow

Connect a hose at the exit of the waterway and allow the water to remain in the bucket through the water pipe. If the outflow of water is not clear or color, there may be rust phenomenon occurs, and the flow is not smooth means that somewhere blocked. If you find these problems, all the water pipes will be drilled again, to ensure smooth (or take your most commonly used method to clean up). Improve the plant's water treatment system to prevent future re-emergence of rust and obstruction caused by a variety of problems.

7. Clean the thimble

After a year, the thimble will become dirty due to gas hoarding and membranous impurities. It is recommended to clean the mold cleaning agent every six to twelve months. After cleaning, apply a layer of lubricant to the thimble to prevent abrasion or breakage.

8. Check the radius of the hot mouth area for fracture

The fracture is caused by the holding force of the loose, hardened plastic fragments remaining in the hot mouth of the machine from the injection cylinder assembly during the forward injection molding. The cause of the problem may also be that the centerline is not aligned. In the discovery of fracture, to consider these two possibilities. If the damage suffered is severe enough to prevent a petal-like leakage (a term used by the mold user to refer to a plastic leak that appears between the guide sleeve and the machine's hot mouth), replace the sprue.
